First things first. Check your drive pulleys and
see if they are square to each other. If they aren't,
the rear tire will kick out on both braking and
accelerating. Second, use a small t-square or pane
of glass to test the front rotor for warpage. If
it isn't near perfect, the front end will pull.
Third, have a competent mechanic go over your wheels.
You may have loose spokes, a bent rim, or a rim/tire
imbalance that is causing low speed handling problems.

My 98 model doesn't seem to have this problem. My
wife always uses the front brake, and other than
some noise, it works fine. I NEVER use the front
brake, so I wouldn't know. However, unless you like
to take chances, I suggest you use it. I've logged
over 100,000 miles on various bikes during the past
17 years, and still will use the front brake until
I KNOW EXACTLY how the machine behaves.

In a nutshell, it sounds like you have a mechanical
problem. Check it out, fix it, and the bike should
be alright.
